Programs
ATI-LA offers a number of courses for the study and training in the Alexander Technique.
  1. Teacher Training Course - a three year program (1620 hours) leading to Certification as a teacher of the Alexander Technique;
  2. Six Week Intensive - an opportunity for serious students to immerse themselves in the work of the Alexander Technique and develop a deeper understanding of the principles. no commitment to the three year training is necessary; the Six Week Intensive may be applied to the Teacher Training Course;
  3. Post Graduate Studies - a customized program designed for teachers of the Alexander Technique to enhance their teaching skills.
  4. Continuing Education - classes and workshops for the community of Alexander Teachers.
The ratio of students to teachers is 5 to 1, enabling all participants to receive continuous attention and supervision.
Location and School Facility
Located in Santa Monica, California, the Alexander Training Institute is situated 14 blocks from the Pacific Ocean and the adjoining city of Los Angeles. The University of California at Los Angeles, Santa Monica City College, as well as museums, shops, theaters, restaurants - in both Santa Monica and Los Angeles - are in close proximity to the School. The facility comprises a cheerful room and outdoor patio with windows for natural light and fresh ocean air. Santa Monica has a year-round moderate climate. A library of books, articles, and videos on the Alexander Technique is maintained and developed for use by the trainees.
Schedule
The Course meets 5 days a week, Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. We operate on a Trimester basis, 12 weeks per Trimester (or term). there is a one week mid-term break, as well as a summer and winter vacation. Trainees may enroll at the beginning of any Trimester when there is an opening.
Probation and Dismissal
The first twelve weeks (one term) of training are probationary and an evaluation will be made at the end of that time. Dismissal from the course will occur only in the case of unsatisfactory work or conduct as determined by the Director(s) of Training of the school with and advice of other faculty.
Certification & Completion
A Certificate of Completion is given provided the trainee has completed the three years of training (1620 hours) and has achieved a satisfactory level of proficiency in teaching the Alexander Technique, as determined by the Director(s) of Training and faculty.

The course is approved by the American Society of Alexander Teachers (AmSAT). Upon satisfactory completion of the Training Course and Certification graduates become eligible to join the Society as a Certified Member.

ATI-LA is approved by the California Department of Consumer Affairs as a post-secondary vocational training school.
