Three Year Course Curriculum
  • Daily personal instruction in the "use of the self"
  • Observation and analysis of postural efficiency at rest and in movement
  • Application of the Technique to a wide range of activities in daily life
  • Reading and discussion of literature by F. M. Alexander and others
  • Exploration of human anatomy - video, books, hands on, and movement; integration of the principles of the Technique while teaching others; communications to students, both verbally and kinesthetically
  • Practice Teaching - with faculty supervision
  • Preparation for presenting the Alexander Technique as a profession: developing a practice, educating the public
  • Application for the Three Year Course
    Applicants are required to have 30 private lessons in the Technique with a certified teacher prior to beginning the Teacher Training Program. Applicants must complete an application form, have lessons with faculty, visit the school, and have an interview with the Director(s) of Training.

    Upon application, the student will be asked to list previous education or training. If the student has had previous training in an AmSAT or S.T.A.T. approved training course, appropriate credit may be allowed at the discretion of the course Director(s).

    A letter of recommendation from the applicant's Alexander Teacher(s) is required.

    Trainees are required to sign an enrollment agreement which contains a statement that they will not undertake to teach the Alexander Technique nor present themselves as teachers until they have received a Certificate of Completion.

    Applicants must visit the physical facilities of the school and have an interview with school personnel prior to enrollment as required by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.
    Tuition for Three Year Course
    The cost of the three year training course of 1620 hours is $21,000 payable in 9 installments of $2,333.33; each payment due two weeks before the beginning of each Trimester. Students may begin the training in September, January or April when there is space available.

    There are currently no grant or scholarship programs available through the school.
